Ms. Summervill relocated to Boise, Idaho, eight years ago, from Lakewood, Colorado, and JeffCo R-1 Schools. She is a K-8 music educator, directing choral groups, school and community theater productions, and creative music classes, for both children and adults. She is the author of, Making Music Today! – “the guitar connection” ~ an Orff-based, K-8, music education resource curriculum.
As a dedicated Orff-trained Music Education Specialist, Ms. Summervill believes that all students learn best, when musical learning engages the whole child – Allowing each child to fully engage in musical experiences, explorations, developing and creating musical ideas and compositions – and – completing each musical learning-journey, by sharing their musical accomplishments and outcomes (performing/presenting) with “others.”
Ms. Summervill is a classically trained Soprano, and sings with the Opera Idaho Resident Company. Along with serving as a member of the Opera Idaho Board-Artistic Committee, she conducts choral groups – church and community groups, and enjoys presenting teacher education workshops for music educators. Ms. Summervill is a trained drama and vocal coach, and teaches private vocal lessons, for ages 13-adult.
